• her ne kadar ekşisözlük bir şarkı sözü sitesi olsa da, haddim olmayarak araya girip mason jar denen şeyin aynı zamanda 1800'lerin ortalarında icat edilmiş bir tür kavanoz olduğunu, normal kavanozlardan farkının ise kapağının birkaç parçadan oluşarak hava geçirmez bir koruma sağlaması olduğunu eklemek isterim.

  john landis mason tarafından 1858 yılında philadelphia'da üretildiği ve patenti alındığı için mason jar olarak anılmaya başlanmıştır.
  
  şu son zamanlarda bütün cafelerde çok popüler olan, limonata getirdikleri cam şişelere de verilen isimdir aynı zamanda.
• camı normal kavanozlara göre daha kalın olduğu için içindeki besinlerin kaynatılıp henüz kaynamaktayken kapaklarının kapatılmasına dayanan home canning ya da evde konserve yapma metoduna uygundur. bu metodda kavanozun içindeki kaynamakta olan besinin üstünde sadece su buharı bulunduğundan kaynama sürerken kapatılan hava geçirmez kapak besinin havayla temas etmeden aylarca taze kalabilmesini sağlar.
  mason jar içinde ısıya dayanıklı her türlü meyve, sebze ve et saklamaya uygun hale getirilebilir. türkiye'de besinler genelde şekerle (reçel) ya da tuz, sirke ve limonla (turşu) saklamaya hazır hale getirildiği için bu tip olaylar pek bilinmez. cam kavanozdaki her şeyin içinde katkı maddesi olduğu zannedilir amma, lakin ki öyle değildir. eyyorlamam bu kadar.
• türkiye'de hiçbir yerde bulamadığım kavanoz türü. hatta geniş ağızlı kavanoz da yoktur.
