• perde anlamına gelen çok eski urduca bir kelime. purdah hint kültüründen alınmış fakat islam kültüründeki bazı uygulamaları da tanımlamak içinde kullanılan sosyolojik bir terimdir. terim özellikle ev içinde fiziksel mekanların ayrılması (haremlik selamlık gibi) ve peçe benzeri giysilerin kullanılması konularını akla getirir.
