• insanların şarkıları neresiyle dinlediğini sorgulatan eserdir. şarkı için mükemmel olduğu iddiasında bulunmak hatalı olurdu lakin katiyen kötü, bayık, sıkıcı, rezil, iğrenç bir parça değildir. neredeyse tüm bilinen yorumlarını dinlemiş biri olarak söylüyorum ki violent femmes yorumu en fazla bir dakika katlanılabilirdir. amanda lear, diana king, thomas anders, blue lagoon yorumlarının tamamı da dinlemeye değmez. karen souza ise sanırım bu yorumların arasında en berbatını ortaya koymuş kişidir. çünkü o kadar ruhsuz, donuk ve acelecidir ki ister istemez zihinde "acaba kadına silah zoruyla mı şarkı söyletiyorlar?"sorusunun belirmesine neden olur. nihayetinde bu şarkı, culture club'dan dinlenmediği müddetçe asla ifadesini paylaşamayacaktır.

• ismini duyunca istemsizce söylenen şarkılardan biridir. yine de toplum içinde "aaaayyy niidıdd taaaaym" violent femmes entonasyonu biraz garip kaçıyor, pavlovun köpeği havlar gibi.
• culture clubın yorumu ne kadar silikse, violent femmesin yorumu da o kadar süperdir. bir nevi, şarkıyı adam etmişlerdir.
• violent femmes'in elini atması ile hayat bulmuş duyarlı bir eser. ne dediği pek belli değil, heralde femmes'ler de bu yüzden coverlamışlardır. onların soğukkanlı katil duruşları ile bi anlam kazanıyor şarkı. zaten kimse kimseyi üzmeyi niye istesin, manyak mıyız biz?
