  ikinci versiyon ise barış manço 1976 yılında belçika’ya gittiğinde kaydedilir. bu sefer org değil, saz kullanılmıştır. bu kaydı bas sesleri iyi veren bir müzik aletinden dinlerseniz çok hoş gelecektir. bu versiyon, tamamı ingilizce olan baris mancho albümünde ve 20. sanat yılı disco manço albümünde yer almıştır. daha sonraları sarı çizmeli mehmet ağa albümünde (b2) yer almıştır. ikinci versiyonun sözleri şöyledir..

  üçüncü versiyon ise, mançoloji'nin ikinci albümünün b tarafında bulunur. barış manço bu sefer, 90lı yıllarda af grubuna “evelallah” şeklinde söz yazarak verdiği bu bestesinde sonda bir parça söyler. bu versiyonda darbuka ve bağlama ön plandadır.

  not: ben 1999da çıkan bu versiyonu uzun süre dinlemedim. bu şarkıyı sevmiyordum çünkü. tesadüf eseri bir 4 yıl sonra, son kısmında evelallah şarkısından bir parça olduğunu öğrendim.
• "nick the chopper" yerine, adamın adını recep tayyip erdoğan yapınca çok acayip bir şey oluyor. deneyin göreceksiniz.
• "türkiye çöl olmasın" mesajı vermektedir, lakin oduncu neden arif, satılmış, ahmet ya da mehmet değil nicktir? nick yoksa mehmetin nickimidir? bu muamma barış mançoyla beraber mezara gömülmüştür.

• son günlerin anlam ve önemine uygun bir barış manço şarkısı. ağaçlarla kafayı bulmuş adamın hikayesi:

  ağaçları hiç umursamadan,
  o, körü körüne balta sallıyordu...

• ilk duydugumda turkiye'den ciktigina inanamadigim, ancak zamanla baris manco'ya ait olduguna inanabildigim sarki.
  
  genelde yabanci dilde olan sarkilarimizda (en azindan bildigim dil olan ingilizce icin konusayim) kelimelerin yerleri ve telaffuzlari cok siritir, ancak gunumuzun kuresellesmesinden yillar once (1970lerin ortalari) boyle bir sarki yapmak harikulade.
• "chopping woods he's game and getting money
  doesn't care for life or even for a friend"
  den anlaşıldığı kadarıyla chaotic neutral olan, oha denilecek nick insanı...
• saplantılı şekilde ağaç kesme işine yoğunlaşmış obsesif bir nick ile ondan nefret eden, nick'i dallarıyla boğarak öldürme planları yapan, intikam peşindeki uçmuş ağaçları anlatan şarkı.
  spekülasyon yapmak yerinde olmaz ama "intikam peşindeki ağaçlar ve vahşi planları" kısmını ne bileyim doors yapmış olsa "ehehe kafaları bir milyonmuş abilerin" denirdi gibi.
• baris manco'nun ingilizce sarkilarindan biri. epey eglenceli.
• şu hayatta ezberlemiş olduğum ilk ingilizce şarkıdır, pastime paradise'ın yarı uydurma versiyonunu saymazsak. eğlencelidir, candır elbet ve fakat sözleri her daim karanlık gelmiştir bana, son dörtlüğü dinlerken hala nedensizce ürperirim. şarkıda bahsi geçen ağaçlar şahsıma yüzüklerin efendisi'ndeki ent ırkından ziyade huorn'ları çağrıştırmakla birlikte, the wizard of oz bağlantısı da kısmen doğrudur. filmde var mıydı bu bilgi hatırlamıyorum ama, teneke adamın gerçek ismi nick chopper'dır ve -tahmin ettiğiniz üzere- oduncudur kendisi. doğunun kötü cadısı baltasını lanetleyince, kollardan başlayarak bütün uzuvlarını birer birer doğramış ve yerine metal parçalar yerleştirmiş nick abi. tabii organlarının yerine yeni ve upgrade versiyonlarını yerleştirirken kalbi unutmuş, ki bu da hikayenin -ilk kitabın en azından- temel öğelerinden biri. ve tüm bunlar cadının hizmetindeki bir munchkin bayana -şu küçük insanlardan, evet- duyduğu aşktan dolayı gelmiş başına. dirty old man diyordu şarkıda, di mi? ehem.
  
  sabahın körü oturup hakkında bu kadar kafa yoracak kadar da sevdiğim şarkıdır işte nick the chopper. sözleri de ezberimde hala, diğer birçok barış manço şarkısı gibi.
• 1977 versiyonu tam bir bass resitali.
  o kadar sağlam bir eser bırakılmış ki 1977'de, 2010 istanbul'unda her sabah otobüste bu şarkıyı dinlemeden halaskargaziden geçemiyorum.
  
  aklıma takılan birşey de var ki söylemeden edemeyeceğim; 1999 mançoloji versiyonunda nick the chopper'ın hikayesinin ardından helalim ol kız sözleri de pek anlaşılır gibi değil. evelallah da çok güzel aslında ama nick the chopper'ın ayrı bir şarkı olarak kalmasını yeğlerdim.
