• matt berninger ve bryce dessner'ın brooklyn'in ditmas park semtinde alligator albümü için çalıştıkları dönemde, matt bir gece dışarda oturup beverly road'da koşuşturup araba alarmlarını çalıştıran (öttüren) çocukları izliyormuş. kendini çok huzurlu hissettiği bu mahalleden de etkilenerek, şarkıyı yazıp bu çocuklara ithaf etmiş (dolayısıyla the geese of beverly road, beverly road'daki araba alarmlarını sembolize ediyor). şarkının bitimine yakın bir zamanda ise cynthia ozick'in heir to the glimmering world adlı romanı piyasaya çıkmış, matt de ilham aldığı bu geleceği parlak, dünyanın sorunlarından uzak, saf bir mutluluğa sahip çocukları sembolize etmesi için bu adı uygun görmüş (şarkıda geçen "we're the heirs to the glimmering world" sözü de bu şekilde ortaya çıkmış).
