• bağımsız sinemanın yaşayan en büyük ustalarındandır. film konularının derinlemesine anlaşılabilmesi ve sinematografik açıdan değerinin algılanabilmesi için belli düzeyde bir entelektüel altyapıyı ve de temel fotoğraf bilgisine ihtiyaç olduğunu belirtmek durumundayım. sinemasını izlediğinizde, şairliğini de hissedeceksinizdir. yunan kültüründen geliyor olması mitolojik göndermelerine de derinlik katmıştır. filmlerinde uzun sekansları tercih etmektedir. dramatik örgüsündeki kuvvet inanılmazdır. sembolik göndermeler oldukça fazladır. zeki, politik, derinlik arz eden filmler yapmıştır. söylenir ki; yunanistan'da sinema sektöründe en yüksek destekleri alması diğer yunan yönetmenleri oldukça kızdırmaktadır! ama hak etmediğini kim söyleyebilir?! ustadır, büyüktür, hala yaşıyor olması sinemaseverler için büyük bir şanstır, müptelaları çoktur ve orjinal adlarıyla filmleri ve aldığı ödüller aşağıdaki gibidir:
