  iplik üretimini çok hızlandırmıştır. the east india company'nin hindistan'dan iplik ithal etmesi sonrası bulunmuştur. ithlat sonucu iplik fiyatlarının düşmesini önlemek için halkın yaptığı baskıyı ithalatı yasaklamak ile desteklemiştir ingiltere hükumeti.
  
  sonrasında spinning jenny'nin bulunması halkı yine rahatsız etmiş. mucidi james hargreaves'in evine halk girip içerdeki makineyi parçalamışlardır. hükümet tabii ki jenny'e sessiz kaldı, bu denli bir üretim kapasitesine hayır diyemezlerdi.
