  after a terrible road accident, the smile man is lucky to be alive, however his injuries mean that his face has been paralysed into a smile and he’ll stay that way for the rest of his life. on leaving the hospital he encounters the woman who was involved in the same accident, and she accuses him of ruining her life. she storms off, leaving her handbag behind. he tracks her down to return her bag back to her, but when he arrives at her home she explains that she has nerve damage as well. we discover that just as the smile man will smile forever, whenever she feels any kind of emotion she cries.
