• vincent clark'in "depeche mode"dan ayrılır ve melody maker'a ilan verip "stüdyo deneyimi olan kuvvetli vokale sahip bayan solist aranıyor" demesi sonucunda "alison moyet" ile çalışmaya başlar. yazoo böyle oluşur. 1982 yılında "don't go" ve "only you" single olarak çıkar. akabinde "upstairs at eric's" albümü gelir. bir yıl sonrasında da "nobodys diary" ve "ode to boy" single larından sonra ikinci albüm "you and me both" gelir.
  sonrasında vince clark erasure grubuna katılıp yazoo'nun hayatına son verir.
