angel song
-
leziz 1 great white ballad'ı.
-
1993 yılı çıkışlı the angel song adlı ezio albümünün 12. parçası... sözleri de şöyledir...
i dreamt i was in heaven
and i was sitting in a bar
with all the other angels,
you were smoking a cigar
one hand on your hip
and one foot on a chair
and a golden ostrich feather
that was planted in your hair
and if i really were an angel,
i'd float over your bed
each night a different dream of me
i'd plant inside your head
and if i were an angel,
i tell you what i'd do
i'd appear in a vision
and i'd give my wings to you
and i'd say "come closer
fly into the light
and please, please don't be stupid
let me sleep tonight
and please don't be stupid
let me sleep tonight"
i dreamt you were a genie
and i found you in the sand
and you were trapped inside a bottle
and i held you in my hand
and you said you'd grant me wishes
if you were ever freed
i said "an empty head when i go to bed
is all i ever need"
so i, of course, released you, hoping you would keep your word
and you laughed the cruellest laught that i had ever heard
and you said "about these wishes, it's too late to decide"
but i remembered that it was my dream... so i put you back inside
i dreamt i was a pirate
aboard a pirate ship
and for a hand i had a hook
and for a heart i had a whip
and you were trapped inside your bottle
and i kept you down below
and you begged me to release you...
but i would not let you go
one night i was awoken
while we were out at sea
by a floating appartion
glowing incadescently
and i could see you clearly
as all around was black
and you tore off both your wings, said
"hey now you can have them back!"
and you said "come closer
fly into the light
and please, please don't be stupid
let me sleep tonight"
no you said "please don't be stupid
let me sleep tonight
tonight ... tonight -
silence 4 $arkisi.
this is me with another nervous breakdown
my pressure dropped, this body went with it
memory fails, i'm feeling claustrophobic
i scream my silent pain in this big plain
there's no one here
tell me who is there now
who is there with you
i'm taking no calls unless it's her voice
i'm seeing no one unless it's her
i open the mailbox every hour
maybe i'll hit the postman
i want to hear some love words
but not it that dyslexic voice
no i won't tear apart for you
but i was given no choice
i guess i was trying to keep me alive
but once i was dead there was nothing to do beside
picking me up and lying me down
waiting for some angel
to wake me and say to me
"hello. don't be scared. i want you to know, you're not dead."
kiss me, is this a dream?
should i believe it?
please promise to me that i'm not going to get hurt this time.
am i too good for you, am i just paranoid?
should i clinical ou should i speak louder?
maybe i should close my eyes for years
and wait for the strongest feeling
out of all of the feelings
to raise
from
you.
am i real? are you real? is this real? what's real?
am i real? are you real? is this real?
tell me, what's real? -
twice shy albümünde yer alan great white balladı...
fallen angel
ripped and bruised
think on better days
life is rude
treats you bad
tears your wings away
raise your eyes to star and sky
believe in fly aways
take your dreams, your broken schemes
and sweep the past away
fly lonely angel
high above these streets of fire
fly lonely angel
far away from mad desire
hollywood ain't paved with gold
it's just a trick of light
sunset falls on stars of old
and blinds you with its light
a spider's web of tangled lives
lays stretched across the hills
from distances it's glistening
like el dorado's halls
the dream was light
and fragrant nights
but how were you to know
the streets are hard
they're mean and scared
where only fools find gold
fly lonely angel
spread your wings another way
fly lonely angel
find a better way
a better day -

kenny wheeler'ın 1997'de ecm'den çıkan albümü. kadro yanılmıyorsam şöyle
kenny wheeler-trumpet
lee konitz-alto saxophone
dave holland- double bass
bill frisell-guitar
// kadro
kenny wheeler (trompet, flügelhorn)
lee konitz (alto saksafon)
dave holland (kontrbas)
bill frisell (gitar)
// parça listesi
01 nicolette
02 present past
03 kind folk
04 unti
05 angel song
06 onmo
07 nonetheless
08 past present
09 kind of gentle
interplay'in cazdaki önemine değinmeye gerek var mı, bilmiyorum. eğer varsa bunu scott joplin'in big band öncesi dönemlerinden ragtime yıldızlarına değin fark edebilirsiniz, zor değil. işte bu albüm bu işin ulaşabileceği belki de son noktadır.
1997 kışında "davulsuz ilginç dörtlü" olarak dışarıdan bakınca hayret uyandıran bu güzide cd'nin işine girdikten sonra bir daha çıkamazsınız. dave holland'ın yıllardır bilinen enfes tekniğine ek olarak inanılmaz duygulu çaldığı, lee konitz'in altodan nazikçe soprano saksofon tonu elde ettiği, bill frisell'ın genelde geri planda parçaların iskeletini ördüğü, kenny wheeler'ınsa trompetten öte flügelhorn'uyla korteksimizin akustik alanını huzura boğduğu ecm başyapıtının kapağı içini belli edercesine hüzünlü ve yalnızdır. [buradaki konsepte eşdeğer olmamakla birlikte albümün the widow in the window'la yalnızlık teması üzerine başarılı bir örtüşme gösterdiğini de eklemek isterim.]
kariyerleri boyunca özgür doğaçlamanın her yönünü/her şekilde yaşamış, adeta fenomen haline gelmiş [gerçi konitz'in son dönemlerinde bozduğunu söylemek isterim.] bu dört adamın kurallı doğaçlamalarının bu kadar haz vereceği arild andersen'in lifelines'ından ya da yine wheler'ın music for large & small ensembles'ından anlaşılıyor, yıllar öncesinden belliymiş doğrusu. wheeler'ın yaratıcılığına, kompozisyonlarına her albümde daha da tutkuyla bağlanıyorum. bu albüm de onlardan biri. -
bir gram rabbit şarkısı. hemen youtube'a da yükledim sizler için. kıymetimi bilin!

just past the new beginning
when everything was lost
i heard an angel singing
to those who paid the cost
she sang the last tomorrow
was surely meant to be
just past the new beginning
when everyone was free
the notes were drenched in sorrow
her melody was soft
her words spoke of a sinking ship
which no one could get off
her sadness wrapped around me
her face began to blur
i turned to face the future
and the last thing that i heard
to save the last tomorrow
to right where we've gone wrong
with hope we stand before you
to sing the angel song
